Almost 10 months ago now, the Pikesville icon was engulfed in flames.

“We’ve been here 37 years and that’s all we’ve known is Pikesville,” Scott said.

“When I showed up here and saw the building like that, there are no words,” Scott said.

Police arrested and charged the man who they said intentionally set ablaze that nearly destroyed this small, family-owned restaurant.

“It was so devastating to see, yes, such a long, long day,” said Kathy.

Since that day, Scott has said their phones have been ringing nonstop.

“From day one, the question was: are you coming back? Scott said.

Their Pikesville community answered the call, raising nearly $ 35,000 for employees, donating photos and even crows featured in a kind note and unique keepsakes.

“At that point, we knew there was no way we could leave Pikesville with a hole and not have the community supporting us,” Reich said.

Scott and Kathy decided to buy the building next door and expand it, and Jilly’s original location was turned into an outdoor patio.

“Between the two of us, our ideas came to life, and that is exactly, exactly what we wanted,” added Reich.

But they wanted to keep elements of old Jilly’s, add new ones, and pay tribute to the first responders to whom they are forever indebted.

“Even though Scott and I own this place, it’s still Jilly’s from Pikesville,” said Kathy.

On October 28, a year after the fire, Jilly’s will host a one-day fundraiser to benefit the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company, which was one of many units responding that day.
