Sabino and Tucson played out to a 1-1 draw Monday night in a rare non-conference game with one day remaining in the 3A Conference regular season. Sabino started the night ranked 3rd in the 3A conference with a perfect 9-0 record, including 5-0 in the 3A South Region, and Tucson came in at 16th in the 6A conference with a 6-4 record in Powerful. -ranking matches.

The Sabercats advanced to the state playoffs last Thursday after winning the South Region title under Tier 3A rules. The team is also ranked well enough to skip the play-in tournament scheduled for Thursday night. The top eight teams from Conference 3A advance directly to the state tournament which begins on Wednesday, February 9, and those eight teams will be joined by the eight winners of the play-in tournament, consisting of teams ranked No. 9-24…. .

Andy was named an honorary Flowing Wells Caballero in 2019, became a member of the Sunnyside Los Mezquites Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2021 and he was a member of the Amphi COVID-19 Blue Ribbon Committee and he won a Distinguished Service Award from the Amphitheater.
