Lights, Camera, Action – The Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield has been turned into a high school for a new Netflix movie Mr. Harrigan’s phone, written by Stephen King!
Six scenes for the Ryan Murphy production, featuring Donald Sutherland and Jaeden Martell (Computers, knives out) are filmed at Ridgefield Playhouse today. The transformation began Sunday by replacing the Ridgefield Playhouse sign above the main entrance with a sign that read “Gates Falls High School.”
Early Monday morning, teams descended on the Playhouse grounds to complete the transformation. Mr. Harrigan’s phone is from the latest news collection If it bleeds from bestselling author Stephen King, about a young boy Craig, living in a small town, who befriends an older and reclusive billionaire, Mr. Harrigan.
The two bond around books and an iPhone, but when the man dies the boy discovers that all is not dead and finds himself able to communicate with his friend from the grave thanks to the iPhone which has been buried with him.
The film is directed by John Lee Hancock (The Blindside, The Rookie, Saving Mr. Banks) and should be released on the big screen in 2022!
