From the era that brought the Rubik’s Cube, Max Headroom and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the world comes the âtotally awesomeâ musical Playhouse Theater âBack to the 80sâ.
Production takes place in the style of films such as Back to the Future, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, The Karate Kid and The Wedding Singer.
âBack to the 80’sâ hits the Playhouse stage in July with a cast of over 40 talented kids ages 10-18.
Audience members can look forward to a fun show filled with all the classic 80s songs including “Walking on Sunshine”, “Video Killed The Radio Star”, “Material Girl” and “Wake Me Up Before you Go Go. “.
They will join the graduating class of William Ocean High School as they go through their final year of 12th grade – as they experience the fun, sorrow, loves and loneliness of growing upâ¦. all on the greatest hits of the 80s.
Set in the United States, “Back To The 80’s” tells the story of the William Ocean High School senior class who graduated in the 1980s, as remembered and seen through Corey’s eyes. Palmer, who is now 30 years old.
It is directed by Rebecca Hutchins, with assistant director Brayden Rewald.
Youth Theater director Kyle Schneider said it would be a fun show.
âThe team worked hard around the clock to get this show off the boards,â Kyle said.
âIt’s so great to have such a great team of young people to help mentor and guide these kids. The kids are having a blast and are all excited to tease their hair and put on neon!
âBack to the 80’sâ will be at the Playhouse Theater for 4 performances – July 1, 2 and 3 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Saturday July 3 at 3:00 p.m. and is in addition to the subscription program.
Reservations open on Saturday June 12 at 10 a.m.
