HURON – Wheel Jam is back!
After being arrested for the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the annual All Things With Wheels event returns Thursday through Sunday, with a wide range of things to see and do, many for free, and nearly all of them. on the SD State Fairgrounds.
Events begin Thursday, June 3, when registration opens at noon for the Wheel Jam Truck Show Show-n-Shine and will be crowned with the return of stock car races at 7 p.m. with the WISSOTA Challenge, at the Dakota State Fair Speedway. .
Things are picking up speed on Friday, with the annual Candy Weinreis Memorial Poker Run, with registration taking place at the Red Arrow Bar, starting at 5 p.m., followed by the round.
The FAT Friday Chili Challenge will start at 5:30 pm and the evening will continue with “Jam Fest” featuring Avenger Joe at the Freedom Stage, starting at 8 pm. Tickets for Avenger Joe are $ 5 and the night ends with “Rock n Lights” on West Machinery Ave., as Wheel Jam attendees show off their vehicle lights, to classic rock and trucker tunes.
Registration for the Classic Car and Motorcycle Show-N-Shine begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday and the 2021 Wheel Jam Parade through Huron kicks off at 10:30 a.m.
The engine brake competition will be held at 11 a.m. on 2 and Nevada and the Midwest SPL Progressive Sound competition will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the racetrack.
The dynamic engine braking competition is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the biker games and motorcycle exhaustion competition begins at 6 p.m.
Action returns to the Dakota State Fair Oval at 7pm with the WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Cup and doors open for the second night of “Jam Fest” at 8:30 am, with Urbandale Lane on the Freedom Stage. Tickets for Urbandale Lane cost $ 7 and both concerts can move inside the Nordby Exhibition Hall, in inclement weather.
Among all the Saturday events, don’t forget the SD BBQ Championships and Backyard BBQ People’s Choice events.
Wheel Jam ends Sunday with a pancake meal starting at 7 a.m. in the Women’s Building and presented by the Christian Motorcyclists Association.
At 12:30 p.m., registrations for the Kids Pedal Pull competition open, followed by the Bike and Trike Parade, the Pedal Pull and the 2021 Wheel Jam Awards.
