Three Rivers, QC – It was a classic harness racing clash between local favorite Hall Win and invader Emotions Riches who stole the show at 3R Hippodrome on Sunday in the opening round of the Breeders Trophy Series for trotters from three years.
Pascal BÃ©rubÃ© was tied with StÃ©phane Brosseau at 26 victories each in the drivers’ standings at the start of the race map on Friday. At the end of the day, BÃ©rubÃ© had a four-win lead, scoring a quintupled behind the wheel and Brosseau had only one win.
BÃ©rubÃ© now leads behind the wheel with 31 wins against 27 for Brosseau.
The eighth race started with the favorite Emotions Riches and the driver StÃ©phane Brosseau who took the lead of position six. But Hall Win (post 2) and pilot trainer Kevin Maguire had other ideas and piqued
Emotions Rich in the first quarter in: 27.3 and did not let them take the lead.
After cramming Emotions Riches into both holes, Maguire was content to cut the mile with Hall Win at half in: 58.4 and three quarters in 1: 29.4 while the two young trotters were six lengths d. ‘advance over the rest of the peloton. .
In the final corner, Gendron returned to challenge with Emotions Riches, but the favorite didn’t have it in him and Hall Win did, winning by a length in 2: 00.3. Ciel Bleu (Jonathan Lachance) finished third.
Son of Angus Room, it was the fourth victory in just six starts this year for Hall Win. Raised and owned by the Maguire stable in Sainte-Marie, Hall Win paid $ 5.50 to win. He has now won four of his last five starts.
HALL WIN REPLAY
XOXO and driver trainer Jerome Lombart of Bromont wiped out the field in the third racing division of the Breeders Trophy series for three-year-old trotting fillies. Lombart, who owns and raised Angus Hall’s daughter, sent XOXO in the lead and in the first quarter mile was already six lengths ahead of Tuscans Beauty (Stephane Brosseau) in the first quarter in: 29.1. XOXO increased this lead by going to the half mile in: 59.1 from 16 lengths, then to three quarters in 1h30.
XOXO was able to extend this lead on the section, winning by nine open lengths in 2: 00.4. SOS Mya (Daniel Laflamme) finished second and Tuscans Beauty third. It was a lifetime mark for XOXO who paid $ 2.30 to win as a 1/9 favorite.
Track Notes: Coach Sylvain Tremblay increased his lead in the coaching standings, scoring a triple Friday and now has 16 wins, six ahead of defending champion Francis Richard. The H3R running surface was in pristine condition as five of the ten races produced lifetime marks for the horses. Live racing resumes Sunday at 12:30 p.m. with the opening round of the Breeders Trophy Series for three-year-old coaches.
