MONONA, Wisconsin – Families with children living with special needs are especially relieved that life is slowly returning to normal. This weekend they are asking you to help them celebrate.
On Saturday June 5th, Gigi’s Playhouse is running the GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenge, both in person at Monona’s Ahuska Park and virtually. The goal is to get 1 million people moving across the country and talk about the purpose of Gigi’s Playhouse. The organizers say it is a “physical and social MOVEMENT for acceptance”.
If you live in the Madison area, you can attend the event in person from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Ahuska Park, 400 East Broadway, Monona.
If you prefer to participate virtually, you can share how you’re moving your body this weekend on social media and tag Gigi’s Playhouse.
You can also consider donating to help the nonprofit continue to make a difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
The pandemic has been a disproportionate challenge for many of these families. Children and adults living with autism often have difficulty reading faces when others wear masks. Those who thrive in the routine are always faced with a lot of changes and uncertainties.
Gigi’s Playhouse has a mission: to change the way the world views Down syndrome.
