‘Allo’ Allo, based on the blockbuster British television series that ran for seven seasons, had a sold-out season at the Playhouse Theater.

Director Nigel Dick said the cast and crew were thrilled with the audience’s comments.

“We were blown away by the response from the audience,” said Nigel.

“We knew people who liked the TV show would come, but people of all ages came and really enjoyed the comedy whether they saw the show or not.”

“To have a sold-out season in our second only performance on the Playhouse stage since COVID has been a dream come true. “

The hilarious comedy featured a talented cast that recounted the adventures of an unfortunate cafe owner, René, in occupied France with all the characters on TV including René’s deaf wife Edith, Agent Crabtree. , German officer Lieutenant Gruber, Major-General von Schmelling, and Gestapo officer Herr Flick.

Following the Youth Theater production, Back to the 80’s, in July, Bundaberg Players Inc’s next production will once again showcase the versatility of Bundaberg’s theater company.

“Children of the Black Skirt” is an Australian Gothic play written by Angela Betzien that challenges audiences to consider the plight of children throughout Australian history from the days of the convicts.

Director Leanne Hutchings said the play was part of the Queensland Schools Drama Program and will provide an opportunity for students, as well as theatergoers of all ages, to appreciate excellent Australian theater. .

“This show will give students the opportunity to see this thought-provoking play come to life on the stage of the Playhouse Theater,” said Leanne.

“There are several stories told through the eyes of children who were picked up for pick-pocketing, who aided in the war effort, who were the stolen generation and who were part of the welfare system.

“The underlying story is the character of Black Skirt who represents authority, that is, the matron of the orphanage and the government.”

An information evening for the Children of the Black Skirt will take place on Tuesday June 8 and auditions will take place on June 15.
