A resounding success in Chichester, the West End and more recently Sadler’s Wells, Michael Harrison and Jonathan Church present Chichester Festival Theater and Stage entertainment‘s from Singin’ in the Rain and announced the cast for their major UK and Ireland tour in 2022.

At the head of this glorious production are Sam Lips as Don Lockwood (Broadway and US credits include CATS, Chicago, West, Side Story, On the Town and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. UK credits include Strictly Ballroom); Charlotte Gooch (Strictly Ballroom and Top Hat in the West End, Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage, First UK Tour and West End) as aspiring actress Kathy Selden; Ross McLaren (Sleepless, Troubadour Theatre; BIG The Musical and White Christmas at the Dominion Theatre) as Don Cosmo Brown’s burlesque sidekick and Jenny Gayner (The Girls, Chicago and Spamalot in the West End and Annie and The Rocky Horror Show on tour) as strangled big-screen siren Lina Lamont.

Throughout the tour, they will reunite with their Sadler’s Wells co-stars who will make special appearances on certain dates. Stages and stage star Faye Tozer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, West End; Me and My Girl and Tell me on a Sunday) will reprise her role as Lina Lamont in Canterbury, Woking, Milton Keynes, Edinburgh and Newcastle and the former professional favorite of Strictly Come Dancing Kevin Clifton (Rock of Ages, UK Tour; Burn the Floor, West End, UK and International Tours; Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage, West End) will reprise his role as Cosmo Brown in Bristol, Cardiff, Southampton, Liverpool and Glasgow.

Adam Cooper returns to performing with his legendary Don Lockwood performance in Woking, Manchester, Glasgow and Plymouth after winning critical acclaim in the role at the Chichester Festival Theater and beyond. Adam Cooper is one of the most famous stars to perform at Sadler’s Wells, where he headlined Matthew BourneThe iconic production of Swan Lake, as well as many other productions.

Additional cast includes Sandra Dickinsonwho will appear as Dora Bailey, Michael Matus like Roscoe Dexter and Imogen Brooke like Zelda Zanders. Don Lockwood is a silent film star with everything he could want – fame, adulation and a high-profile “romance” with co-star Lina Lamont. But Hollywood is about to change forever. Singin’ in the Rain features songs by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur freed, including Make ’em Laugh, Good Morning, Moses Supposes and Singin’ in the Rain. The original screenplay and adaptations are from Betty Comden and Adolf Green. Bringing together the original Chichester production team, Singin’ in the Rain will be directed by Jonathan Churchwith choreography by Andrew Wright. This production of Singin’ in the Rain opened at the Chichester Festival Theater and ran due to unprecedented public demand, before moving to London to huge critical acclaim and four Olivier Award nominations.

He played in front of more than 750,000 people… some leaving the theater a little wetter than when they arrived! Iconic rain scenes:

  • Use 6,000 liters of water, which is the equivalent of 5 tons (here’s a list of things that also weigh 5 tons: 2 rhinos, 11 grand pianos or 30 pandas!)
  • Uses over 100 meters of heavy duty rubber hose
  • Takes 15 minutes to drain. Then it is recovered, it is then recycled, cleaned and reused
  • Heats water to 37 degrees for performer comfort!

The stage production of Singin’ in the Rain is based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film, consistently voted the most popular musical of all time.
