FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 9

Salpointe (0-1) at Anthem Boulder Creek (1-0), 7 p.m.
The Lancers need this game to tie before they even host Basha next week and then travel to play Cienega.

Marana (1-0) at Buena (1-0), 7 p.m.
Big victory on Mountain View for Marana. Win that and the Tigers will have a bye week to prepare at Canyon del Oro with a 2-0 record. The Colts have a favorable opening schedule but the second half of the year is tough.

Sunnyside (1-0) at Scottsdale Cactus Shadows (0-1), 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils will be on the road until October 7. A 4-0 record at that time would be a bonus.

Flowing Wells (1-0) at Phoenix Paradise Valley (0-1), 7 p.m.
The Caballeros can open 2-0 for the first time since the 2018 8-3 playoff team.

Mountain View (0-1) at Gilbert Higley (1-0), 7 p.m.
A great opportunity to equalize the Mountain Lions record although the Knights have just beaten Poston Butte.

Ironwood Ridge (0-1) at Gilbert Campo Verde (0-0), 7 p.m.
The Nighthawks have to win this one with a bye after that.

Tucson (1-0) at Mesa Skyline (1-0), 7 p.m.
The Badgers have an excellent chance to go 2-0.

Desert View (0-1) at Surprise Willow Canyon (1-0), 7 p.m.
The Jaguars travel to Surprise to take on the Wildcats with a game against CDO next week. No rest.

Glendale Copper Canyon (0-0) at Rincon/UHS (0-1), 7 p.m.
This game could be very tight for Rangers’ home opener.

Cholla (0-1) at Sahuarita (0-1), 7 p.m.
Cholla can score. Both teams hope to tie things up.

Pueblo (1-0) at Safford (1-2), 7 p.m.
Safford already has three games. Good road trip for Pueblo.

Sahuaro (1-0) at Sabino (2-0), 7 p.m.
The rivalry isn’t what it used to be, but the programs are 2-2 against each other in the last four games.

Phoenix Greenway (0-1) at Walden Grove (0-1), 7 p.m.
The Red Wolves have a perfect opportunity to go even on their schedule.

Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain (0-0) at Mica Mountain (1-0), 7 p.m.
The Bears knocked Mica Mountain out of the playoffs last year.

Pusch Ridge (3-0) at Catalina Foothills (0-1), 7 p.m.
The Lions beat Catalina Foothills at home last year. This is Pusch Ridge’s fourth game of the year and the Falcons have perhaps the toughest first five games in the state.

Tanque Verde (1-1) at Pima (1-1), 7 p.m.
Both teams need this win to stay ahead early.

Catalina (0-2) at Phoenix Cortez (1-1), 7 p.m.
The Trojans are looking for their points of the year.

Benson (2-1) at Bisbee (1-1), 7 p.m.
You would think these two programs have over 100 years of games played against each other, but Benson played 6-a-side football for many years, winning back-to-back state championships in 1954 and 1955. Willcox, Marana and Tombstone joined Benson in 11-men’s football in 1956. The two programs are believed to have first played in 1982 to tie 6-6.

Palo Verde (1-2) at Santa Rita (0-2), 7 p.m.
Both teams are still learning the game. The Titans won 10-0 in 2020.

Globe (1-1) at Tombstone (0-2), 7 p.m.
Tombstone is aiming for the first victory of the year.

Maricopa Sequoia Trail (1-0) at Willcox (2-0), 7 p.m.
A long journey for Pumas to Willcox. The Cowboys are good.

St. David (3-0) at Duncan (1-2), 7 p.m.
The Tigers are 4-0.

Bullhead City Mohave Accelerated (1-2) at San Manuel (2-1), 7 p.m.
Another long road trip at 8. San Manuel won 50-46 last year.

Valley Union (0-3) at Baboquivari (1-2), 7 p.m.
Valley Union won last year at home.

BYE : Cienega (1-0), Canyon del Oro (1-0), Douglas (1-0), Empire (1-0), Rio Rico (1-0), Amphitheater (0-1).
