Find out who is playing in the UK tour of The purple color Musical

Production of Curve and Birmingham Racecourse will begin in September.

The cast has been announced for Leicester’s Curve and Birmingham Hippodrome’s upcoming production of the Broadway musical The purple colorwho will tour England and Wales from September 13 at the Hippodrome.

The tour, which follows the 2019 production of Curve and Birmingham Hippodrome and the 2021 pandemic stream, will next play at the Theater Royal Plymouth (September 27 to October 1), Royal & Derngate Northampton (October 4 to 8), The Lowry in Salford (11 to October 15), Wales Millennium Center in Cardiff (October 18 to 22), Mayflower Theater Southampton (October 25 to 29) and Norwich Theater Royal (November 1 to 5).

Me’sha Bryan (Caroline or ChangeThe Playhouse Theatre) will play the role of Celie with Bree Smith (The geniusHope Mill Theatre) as Shug Avery, Aaliyah Zhané (comedy of errorsMercury Theatre) as Nettie, Ahmed Hamad (The Addams Family UK tour) as Harpo and Jimand Allotey as Squeak, joined by original Curve and Birmingham Hippodrome cast members Ako Mitchell as Mister, Anelisa Lamola as Sofia, KM Drew Boateng as Pa, Rosemary Annabella Nkrumah as Darlene and Karen Mavundukure as Doris and the other Celie.

The company also includes Kyle Birch, Kayla Carter, Joshua Clemetson, Esme Laudat, DeeArna McLean, Monifa James, Nathaniel Morrison, Alex Okoampa and Neil Patterson.

The purple color will again be directed by Tinuke Craig with Lakesha Arie-Angelo serving as the revival director.

The creative team also includes music supervisor Alex Parker, orchestrator Martin Higgins, choreographer Mark Smith, designer Alex Lowde, video designer Joshua Pharo, sound designer Tom Marshall, casting director Kay Magson, music director Ian Oakley, associate designer Ricardo Pardo and associate choreographers. The musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel (and Stephen Spielberg’s popular 1985 film) features a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.
