It was Yves Filion Day at 3R Hippodrome on Sunday afternoon as the Hall of Fame drove the winners of both divisions to the $ 8,000 Breeders Trophy Series for three-year-old coaches.

It was the final round of the series with the top eight scorers returning to H3R on Sunday, September 12 for their respective $ 65,000 finals.

Cadillac Bayama and Hall of Fame trainer / driver Yves Filion had little trouble managing the field in the fourth race colt division.

Expelled on the big favorite of the 1-9 race, associated with his entry teammate, Colonel Bayama (Justin Filion), Yves Filion sent Cadillac Bayama just after the lead and kept him away from Colonel Bayama before the first quarter thousand in: 28.4.

Filion then slowed the pace by going to halftime in a slow: 59.2. This brought out YS Do It Right (Stephane Brosseau) in first place with Chantee (Stephane Gendron) in second place. But those two were unable to gain ground over Cadillac Bayama as Filion picked up the pace to three quarters in 1: 28.1.

With only his teammate to face at the top of the stretch, Cadillac Bayama slipped out of the field with a time of: 55 in the final half to win with ease by three and a half lengths in 1: 56.2. Colonel Bayama was second and YS Do It Right third.

For Cadillac Bayama, a colt bred by Bayama Farms by Sunshine Beach, this was his third win this season, all three in the Breeders Trophy series at H3R. He paid the mandatory $ 2.10 to win.

In the Breeders Trophy Series filly division, the start of race eight saw Filion send Celia Bayama straight to the front and never looking back en route to an easy 1: 57.2 triumph.

Celia Bayama cut the fractions of: 28.3 and: 58.4, holding the field at bay with Whitemountaincammy (Stephane Brosseau) sitting the pocket trip, then race favorite CL Sportsextreme (Stephane Gendron) came first in the stretch and nearly led Celia Bayama to three quarters in 1: 28.1.

The outer road took its toll on CL Sportsextreme, however, as it could not keep up with Celia Bayama, who easily gained a length with Whitemountaincammy closing in for second and CL Sportsextreme third.

Making her eighth start in sophomore year, Celia Bayama notched her second win of the season and series. The daughter of Bettors Delight, like Cadillac Bayama, is raised and owned by Bayama Farms. She paid $ 7.20 to win.

The Super Sunday at H3R will feature not only the four $ 65,000 Breeders Trophy Series finals, but also the four $ 55,000 Future Stars Series finals. Super Sunday is the richest day for horse racing in Quebec.

In the ninth race, $ 5,000 Preferred 2 Pace for the mares, trainer / driver Steven Gagnon won Kiss Me Bad 6-1 over point guard Shes Movin On (Samuel Fillion) and roughed him outside for most of the mile run. . She won by a length and a quarter in 1: 57.1. Gagnon, from Sorel Tracy, Que., Owns the five year old mare by Badlands Hanover. She paid $ 15.10 to win.
