BUDA – The Buda Region Chamber of Commerce brings back the Fajita Fiesta on September 23-24 at the Buda City Amphitheater and Park and invites the community to attend or show off their skills and be part of the competition .

The free event — which hasn’t been held since 2018 — will begin September 23 at 5 p.m. and will feature live music from rock and folk singer Max Omer. Judging for the margarita contest will take place at 8:30 p.m. and Texas Tejano Music Award winner Ray Ray will wrap up the evening at 10 p.m.

On September 24, the Fiesta opens at 9 a.m. The amphitheater will host performances by Dance Unlimited and Lehman Mariachi Los Lobos High School, as well as the Chihuahua Beauty Contest, Jalapeño Eating Contest, and Grito Contest. The Wyatt Weaver Band will take the stage at 4:30 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m. the awards ceremony for all competitions will begin. Saturday’s headliner is Grammy-nominated performer JR Gomez and the Fiesta-closing Conjunto Bandits.

Additionally, Brooklyn’s Down South neighborhood will host a tent beer garden and a variety of food vendors will be located under the pavilion. There will also be a children’s area with family activities for all ages and vendors of arts, crafts and merchandise around the main area of ​​the park.

Trophies will be awarded for best fajitas (along with cash prizes), best jalapeño poppers, best salsa, best charro beans, best margaritas, and best showmanship. Check-in for cooks begins September 23 at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m.
