The Town of Lancaster and the Town of DeSoto team up each year to provide a fun and
sure event of July 4, alternating places between the two cities.

Lancaster Mayor Clyde C. Hairston expressed his enthusiasm for the joint celebration ahead of the event: “It is always a pleasure to partner with the Town of DeSoto and share in the festivities on such an important day. in history. This is yet another example, which we will continue to persevere as a city, state and country, despite the many obstacles encountered. Can you imagine that at this time of last year we were at the heart of COVID-19, safe, face masks, and struggling to find a vaccine for coronavirus disease? We are blessed to be
here! And, as for the feast of June 17 which is now a national holiday, I see this feast of July 4 as a day of going out, and of course with freedom and remaining free, it is never without a price. So, I encourage all who would participate and celebrate this historic day, to embrace your freedom! “

A whole evening of fun

DeSoto Mayor Proctor said, “The Town of DeSoto is honored to partner once again with the Town of Lancaster to share a happy celebration of our nation’s independence. Given the mitigation of the coronavirus pandemic this year and the many challenges America has faced in the quest for social justice, this joint celebration takes on added significance and strengthens our reasons for hope that a future fairer and more just is before us, ”said DeSoto Mayor Rachel L. Proctor. “When two cities from across America come together to celebrate after a long period of vigilance and caution, you can be assured that the cheers will be louder, the laughter deeper, and the camaraderie even greater.”
