Trois-Rivieres, QC – Jack panics (sports editor) picked up their first win with a shocker of 27-1 by winning their $10,000 Breeders Trophy Series split on Sunday, July 31 at Racecourse 3R.

It was the second leg of the series for three-year-old colts and fillies.

The 7th race co-feature started with Ritchie Alpha and driver Pascal Berube taking the lead at the start with Aladdin (Samuel Fillion) also wanting the front and just as they were neck and neck with Ritchie Alpha, Aladdin took the lead. derailed before the quarter in: 29.3 and was out of the race with Le Massif (Simon Delisle) still sitting on the pocket trip.

Ritchie Alpha and Berube then controlled the pace and were then challenged first by HP Momentum and driver Jonathan Lachance as they cleared the half mile in :58.4.

Meanwhile, Jack Panic and driver Robert Shepherd were in seventh place in the race on the wood.

On the straight, Titanium Alpha (Stephane Brosseau) was second with Chikaboom (Francis Picard) third.

With HP Momentum no moment forward, Robert Shepherd swung three from seventh with Jack Panic three quarters behind in 1:27.3.

As they raced around the final corner Le Massif and Delisle fired from the pocket and came after Ritchie Alpha and it looked like La Massif was going to beat them to the wire until a fast rocket named Jack Panic eats the ground in the stretch and explodes by the race leaders to win by two lengths in 1:57.3. Le Massif finished second with Ritchie Alpha third.


It was only Jack Panic’s third life start and his first win for coach Francis Richard. The gelding was bred and owned by Brian Paquet of Quebec. He paid $56.70 to win. It was the 5th time this season that a horse had paid over $50.00 to win.

The Fillies competed in their $10,000 Breeders Trophy Series split in Race 4 where 1/5 favorite Shes Rockandfame (He is watching) and driver Samuel Fillion easily led from start to finish in 2:00.4.

The seated pocket Godiva Me Amour (Robert Shepherd) finished second with AJ Dalia (Marie-Claude Auger) third.

It was the second win for Shes Rockandfame, which is trained by Francis Richard for André St Laurent’s Investissement KFB. She paid $2.70 to win.


Siddharta (so surreal) and driver Stéphane Brosseau trailed Goldinthebadlands (Francis Picard) three down the straight in the 9th Perferred-Handicap Pace race. Both horses took the lead on the final corner and then Siddhartha caught and passed Goldinthebadlands on the stretch to win by half a length in 1:56. Chantée (Samuel Fillion) finished third.

The 8th Preferred-Handicap Trot race saw the quadruple Quebec Champion, Sensor De Rêve (Muscular mass) and driver Samuel Fillion led from start to finish, winning by two lengths in 2:01.1. Fix A Drink (Robert Shepherd) finished second with Frido PV (Yves St Jacques) third.

This is the second victory of the year for Capteur De Rêve, who is trained by Maxime Velaye for the Ecurie Provocante de Mirabel. He paid $3.00 to win as the betting favorite.
